Phillip was admitted to practice as a Solicitor in 1967 and since that time has worked as a Solicitor in the Penrith/St Marys region.  Phillip has strong ties with the Penrith/St Marys area and is the 4th generation Thompson to have been born in the region.
Phillip was educated at Penrith Infants School, Penrith Primary and finally at Penrith High School.
In 1993 the Law Society of New South Wales began accrediting solicitors as specialists in certain areas of legal practice.  That same year Phillip was in the first group of solicitors to be accredited as specialists, his specialty being that of Business Law.   In 1999 Phillip completed a Masters Degree at the University of Western Sydney and was awarded the Degree of Master of Laws (Taxation Law).  This was in keeping with Phillip’s area of expertise which, although a general practitioner, focused on the area of Business and Commercial Law.
Phillip has a wide range of legal experience having worked in the industry for over 40 years.  While his primary area of interest is in the fields of Business and Commercial transactions, he also has a wide range of experience in the areas of:-

  • Estate Planning
  • Wills and Deceased Estates
  • Conveyancing
  • Business and Company Law
  • Commercial Law
  • Property Development.

Phillip lives locally and is the father of 5 children.  He enjoys golf, bowls, bushwalking, reading and socialising in the company of good food and wine.
Phillip is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales, Best Practice Lawyers and numerous local sporting and recreational clubs.

Maura has worked with Phillip Thompson for various periods since 1970 and brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to the firm.   She currently undertakes the role of Office Administrator where she is responsible for the day to day operation of the whole firm.  Maura also acts as Phillip’s Personal Assistant which brings her into contact with his many clients and assists Phillip with his Commercial work.

Although Sofi has a wide range of legal experience having been involved in the industry for many years, she is now predominantly involved in the areas of Wills, Probate and Estate Administration where she also acts as Phillip’s Assistant.  Sofi also co-ordinates the preparation of Powers of Attorney, Appointments of Enduring Guardians for our clients, in addition to the work which she does on Deceased Estates.

Mary joined the firm as Accounts Manager during 2005.  Mary has valuable experience in legal accounting and administration and is responsible for all compliance issues with the Law Society of New South Wales and for dealings with many of the firm’s clients and its bankers.
